Serpentarium

Not so long time ago I became a member Serpentarium - newborn organization of four active Russian artists in the world of miniatures (I, Ringil, Ravenswood and Ookami). Here's a link to our newborn child:

I hope that you will see there not only ongoing works of each participant but a lot of exclusive collective works. And we have a lot of plans for such projects!

Forge Guardians. Confrontation.

I've finished two dwarfs from Confrontation today . I tried to use many textures here: on leather  gloves and helmet, backpacks and other clothes. I didn't choose any color scheme previously at this time, just painted as I like. And I like the result :).
 So, the first:

Empire General. Step-by-step. Part1: Horse.

First of all I want to appologize for all grammar mistakes in this text. It was really hard for me  to translate so many words in English. But I hope that anyone who wants to understand this tutorial will do it :).
There is an interesting section - "Gym" on a russian forum WARFORGE where I regularly spend my time. Here young artists paint their work under a patronage of more experienced colleagues. One day I've decided to take two "students" to share what I can and what I've learned over three years in this hobby. But I've decided to change form of training: not just to give advice but to paint with a student on-line. Because, in my opinion, in this way I would show what I'm talking about. And we must paint the same miniature.
With my first "student" Alexander we've chosen a mounted Imperial General. I've pulled my General  "from the grave" because he was bought for a bits and much of his equipment (such as all right hands and weapons) was "built out".  And here you can see a history of birth of
two our Generals.
As a result of our job - I have a very detailed guide how I've painted this miniature. Here is a Part 1: Horse, and then I hope it will be Part 2: General.

And as addition I painted some blood stains on my Akshasa. I hope it will add a little bit brutal to him.

The Barbarian of Wasteland (from Command Group) RA

Today we've learned results of The Russian Alternative Online Battle 3. I painted one Barbarian model from the command group to paticipate in it.
My work won bronze and it  was really enjoyable news for me (with some shock), becase this competition was attended by a very famous artists, and the competition was really tough.
This is gallery of all works involved in the competition, and here is the
judges word .
   And my work:

Ashkasa, Warrior of Blood. Confrontation.

My impressions of this miniature: it is very small and thin. I think I've never been painted such thin miniatures before. Here I've deided to maintain an atmosphere of the previous painted  Нeadhunter from the same Devourers of Vile-Tis clan.

Crystal Hammer 2012

There was an annual miniature painting contest Crystal Hammer as part of a Moscow's Games Day on  June, 23-24 in Moscow .
As in the last year, I was closely involved both in the contest and in its organization - I made pics of
competition works.
In general, the event has gone well, I saw some interesting work "in live", met with friends and talked to artists, won several awards ...
   However, I
was a little sad because of а  lack of so many good works in this years. Some artist who were so wonderfully exhibited at the Spring Winter Angel contes did not participate here:  Lynx, FFF, Oxotnik-kod, Ringil and many others. Even my husband left his works at home. As a result we haven't seen two or three dozen of works, which usually create healthy competition in categories.
Still, the competition was attended by 85 works, there were winners and here are results:

Category 1 "Single Miniatures Science Fiction"
1. Ivan Melnikov (Nakatan)
2. Nadezhda Reka (River)
 3. Mezcheryakov Nikita

Category 2: "Sguad Science Fiction"
1. Yaroslav (Yaroslav)
 2. Zabrodin Alexandr (endoflife)
 3. Anikeev Daniil

Category 3 "Monsters and Vehicles Science Fiction"
1. Yaroslav (Yaroslav)
2. Nadezhda Reka (River)

 3.Denis Dubanevich (ЧК)

Category 4 "Single Miniature Fantasy"
1. Ivan Melnikov (Nakatan)

 2. Andrey Tzedilin (TSE)
3. Alexandr Kataurov (Alessandro)

Category 5 "Band Fantasy"
1. Nadezhda Reka (River)

2. Michail Starov

 3. Vitaliy Zaitzev

Category 6 "Monsters and Machines Fantasy"
1. Denis Dubanevich (ЧК)

2. Kristina Komarova

3. Yuriy Anufriev

Category 7 "Single historical miniature"
 1. Igor Ilyushenko
 2. Nikita Mezcheryakov
 3. Alexandr Yakimov

Category 10 "The Duel"
1.Ivan Melnikov (Nakatan)
2. Michail Starov
 (pic will be published later)

3.  Nikita Mezcheryakov

Category 11 "Diorama"
1.Ivan Melnikov (Nakatan)

 2. Denis Dubanevich (ЧК)
 3. Denis Kornev

Category 12 "Open"
1.Ivan Melnikov (Nakatan)

2. Igor Ilyushenko (Brother Vinni)  - sculptor,  Ivan Melnikov - painter

 3. Andrey Tzedilin (TSE)

That's it. All three of my exhibited works  took prizes. This victory didn't bring any joy becouse of weak competition (I do not mind Ivan Melnikov - he had no equal in this contest, not even close). I hope that next year will change this situation and the competition we will be able to please us a large number of high-quality work.
